The classic sheep of the countryside.

The classic sheep of the countryside.

The Suffolk sheep is one of Britain’s most iconic breeds. Developed in the 18th century by crossing hardy Norfolk Horn ewes with Southdown rams.

They are adaptive, productive, and reliable. Suffolk sheep are the classic sheep of the British countryside. Their thick, springy fleece is comfortable and warm. Their self-sufficiency and reliable wool output make them ideal for farms combining meat, wool, and grazing management, similar to hill and lowland farming traditions across the UK and Europe.

The wool produced by Suffolk sheep is valuable for it's durability and sturdiness. The dense fleece provides excellent loft, trapping warmth effectively for outerwear, blankets, and upholstery applications. These are the classic white sheepskins that are cozy, beautiful, and useful.

Compared to other white sheepskins, like Merino, the wool fibers of Suffolk are naturally thicker, with greater loft and durability. Suffolk wool averages 25-33 microns in diameter while Merino is typically 17-24 microns, making it stronger, more resistant to wear, and less prone to pilling. The strong fibers keep their cushy structure and insulating properties a long time and with frequent use.

The color is natural, not bleached. These white sheepskins are the real thing. We do not over process the fleece during tanning.
